It has been a week today since IT Headquarters had its first major public launch, and the results so far have been very pleasing. Approximately 800 visitors have made 1500 odd page views during this first week, which has far exceeded my expectations.
On the negative side, as pleased as I am with the numbers that have been visiting IT Headquarters, it is perhaps a little disappointing with the lack of number from visits that have converted into memberships. This has gotten me to thinking what can I offer that isn't going to be a deterrent to casual visitors, such as forced membership, but is going to make those few minutes it takes to go through the sign up process worthwhile.
What I've decided to do is separate my articles into two sections. Those detailing procedures for basic functions such as installations and upgrades will be made available for all site visitors. However, articles describing procedures for more advanced topics such as specific application configurations and optimizations will be reserved for IT Headquarter members only.
