SMTP Access Denied Error Message.
I am currently running a third party Mail/Internet Proxy package called 602LAN Pro. I use it as my Internet Proxy and Mail server.I also use Exchange 5.5 as my Intranet mail server.
Configuration:
Exchange Runs on my DC(DHCP,DNS Server(Active Directory Intergrated) , IIS (responsible for connecting my network photocopier through ldp port.))
If 602 is run on a Windows 2000 Pro machine everything works fine.
The problem starts when I try to run 602 under a Windows 2000 Server (member server ) environment .I can receive e-mail messages and brows the Internet but I’m unable to send e-mail messages. I get an error message related to SMTP eg. “Access Denied, SMTP,message cannot be sent.” Users also receive an Access denied error message from the Mailer.
What i want to do:
I’m thinking of making the Member server a Secondary DNS server then add MX records and specify my mail server.
I also think of configuring my DHCP SMTP options to point to my server as my SMTP server.
What could be other solutions? Please help.

I've got three major job interviews in the coming week sibusisom, and as your problem seems to be quite complex I won't be able to answer it until next week sometime when I have enough time to devote to it to give a useful answer.
One thing perhaps you could clarify for me is why you are using 602 for internet e-mail instead using Exchange?
If what you are using is catering for your business needs, then there is little reason to use Exchange, especially if you are unfamiliar. If you are interested though, have a look at www.msexchange.org for some tips.
As for the problem at hand, I'm assuming you are logged in with local admin priviledges when you are getting this error message. I would be taking a close look at your SMTP relay settings, and make sure that all machines on your subnet are able to relay.
P.S Thanks for the kind words regarding my interview :-D
Have your tried to contact your server administration? It's very possible that your system to work properly, perhaps there have been some changes in your network and you don't know about them. I hope you will have it all figured out.
