Hi malaa,
What you ask is not a small job. I do plan to create guides to cover the topics you speak of, but to do so would take several hours which I just don't have to spare at the moment. Have a look at www.iis-resources.com as we already have some guides there that should answer most of your questions.
Hi Brashquido,
I use Windows 2000 Advanced Server and I'd like to make a Webserver IIS for my own LAN. Pls send me a guide as document to config IIS asap.
Many thanks in advance.
Almost an impossible question to answer in any kind of definitive one size fits all manner. The way in which you configure IIS totally depends on what you intend to do with it, and how.
- Do you have a registered domian name?
- If so, do you have your DNS records setup properly?
- I assume you are wanting to host your own sites?
- If so what type of Internet connection do you have, does your ISP permit you to host your own websites, and are any ports blocked?
- Does your Router/Modem support port forwarding?
- Do you have a firewall?
- Do you plan on just creating a few static HTML pages, or are you wanting to use some kind of CMS?
- What programming language do you plan on using (asp, php, .NET, etc)?
Basically need some info on what you are wanting to achieve, and how you want to do it before I can help much.
Thanks a lot for answering, I myself have solved the problem and my own site on LAN is working. I find that a new website has to be made - the IIS must be configured - before its contents are written. Is that true ?
How ever, thanks for your support.
Best regards
Yes, you must configure your site in IIS before the site contents are viewable.

Hi M Afzal,
In a nutshell what you'll need to do is;
- Create ZONE in your DNS server for your Intranet site.
- Create A record in your new DNS zone
- Ensure all your clients are using your AD/DNS servers as their primary DNS
- Create new site in IIS with a host header the same as your A record.
- Populate you new website with content, ensuring the IUSR account has permissions
That should be about it.
